Aurora is 'strategically' placed for commerce and industry on the eastern edge of the metro area. There is the E-470 toll way that wraps itself around the east side, the Interstate 70 that flank the north and the Interstate 225 that cuts north and south in the middle.
The city of Aurora is home to over 10,400 businesses, and the public and private sector employment amounts to about 101,000 people. There is a high percentage of an educated workforce (30 percent are college graduates), which attracts major companies like Boeing, Hospitals, ADT Security Services, L'Oreal and much more. The Aurora Chamber of Commerce and the Aurora Economic Development council have been providing support for attracting such large businesses and getting them involved in the community.
The median income for a household in the city was $46,507, and the median income for a family was $52,551 as of the year 2000.
